Film-Book dot Com: TV Review: V (2009): Season 1, Ep.1: Pilot

I think somebody told the producers of V they were on the verge of being cancelled. I mean they introduced the resistance in the pilot. Jeez.

I know. Its like when they made Children of Dune into that tv movie on Syfy and explained the whole conspiracy in the first twenty minutes like idiots.

    Maybe they fear being Firefly-ed?

An FBI agent decides to start a resistance with a priest. Right. Why not start it with a Dunkin Donuts employee of the month?

V was quite obviously a rush-job and most likely attempted to fulfill it's purpose in it's pilot episode. Perhaps nobody else thinks it's a coincidence that this show about [strikethru]black people[/strikethru] lizard men from [strikethru]the middle east[/strikethru] outer space wanting to bring us [strikethru]health care reform[/strikethru] health care technology with ulterior motives through media manipulation, community outreach and programs designed to appeal specifically to young people, up against a small but vocal paranoid and apparently militant minority, premiered *less than a week* before the house vote on the health care reform bill.

No, it's just an obvious vehicle for a political agenda, it's no surprise that they spent every symbolic dime of writing they could scrape together for the pilot and it's no wonder that this rushed hackjob of a TV show was such an abysmal failure in both it's purported goal of "being a tv show" and it's unwritten purpose of swaying political opinion.

Guys, you see what happened with Heroes towards the end of the first season and continuing right? It is quite scary that TV audiences lack the wont to sit through story anymore. While the original V took it's time in building up the characters, the visitors and eventually a resistance, I'm afraid that producers don't trust us to allow them to do that any longer. The pilot was good albeit rushed to hell, I am reserving sever judgement for the remaining 7 episodes because I am assuming that because there was an original V, they are taking this a completely different direction. Can't exactly shock us with a big reveal, hell half of us already know what they are and what their intent is. I think they want it out of the way fast and the show may be about a long struggle with Anna, her co-conspirators and the humans who believe her.

Let's not crucify it already, I am hoping they don't aim on trying to mirror the original show outside of them being lizard people.

The audio on this show is the worst I have ever heard. Volume changes and such background garbage noise/music that keeps you from hearing the dialogue. It required a huge effort to sit through the whole episode. First and last episode I am going to watch.
